One of the most important medical discoveries of the past two decades has been that the immune system and inflammatory processes are involved in not just a few select disorders, but a wide variety of mental and physical health problems that dominate present-day morbidity and mortality worldwide. Indeed, chronic inflammatory diseases have been recognized as the most significant cause of death in the world today, with more than 50% of all deaths being attributable to inflammation-related diseases such as pain, ischemic heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes mellitus, chronic kidney disease, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and autoimmune and neurodegenerative conditions.

The prevalence of obesity in Western countries has increased in parallel with the prevalence of biochemical parameters suggesting chronic inflammation. Consistent with this, individuals with obesity have higher mean levels of inflammatory biomarkers. Although the explanation for this observation is difficult to ascertain, multiple inflammatory conditions are associated with obesity, including type 2 diabetes, heart disease, chronic kidney disease, cancer, asthma, gastroesophageal reflux disease, psoriasis, and small intestine bacterial overgrowth.

When considered individually in participants of both sexes, severe obesity, evidence of systemic inflammation, and markers of IR [insulin resistance/high blood sugar] were all associated with excess risk of adverse outcomes.

What You Need to Know
Chronic inflammation and chronic high blood sugar or insulin resistance are the main underlying causal factors in virtually EVERY chronic disease including heart disease, cancer, diabetes, obesity, Alzheimer’s, digestive disorders, depression, etc etc etc.
BUT… the main underlying causal factors of chronic inflammation and chronic high blood sugar are LIFESTYLE CHOICES – how and what you eat, how you move, and how you think.

Chiropractic Helps but You Need To Help Yourself As Well…

Chiropractic care has been shown to improve how your body moves by improving the mobility and posture of stiff spinal joints often stuck in a poor posture but to get the most out of your chiropractic care you need to have a lifestyle that helps to keep you active and moving.

Chiropractic has recently been found to also positively influence how you think by neurologically stimulating areas of the brain that help to calm you emotionally. You can reinforce and add to your emotional health and well-being by engaging in lifestyle practices and habits that help you train yourself to think better and have healthier emotions and relationships.  You don’t need pills to do this. You need skills, lifestyle skills that can be learned and we will show you…

Unfortunately, chiropractic care can’t magically impact what you eat. That’s up to you but you need to first know what foods are really healthy and what foods aren’t.

What You Need to Do
Whether you are already suffering from chronic illness or pain, whether you are identified as being at risk of chronic illness, or whether you want to avoid chronic illness or chronic pain in the future, the solution is the same! Improve how you eat, improve your movement, improve your thoughts, emotions, and relationships.

If you have HEALTHY EATING, HEALTHY MOVEMENT, HEALTHY THOUGHTS, EMOTIONS, AND RELATIONSHIPS it is most likely that you will BE HEALTHY.

How Do You Know What Is Really Healthy?

With the plethora of different opinions on health and lifestyle out there I can understand the confusion because as a health professional for over 30 years, I have often come across contradicting opinions especially when it comes to the topic of health, nutrition, and lifestyle. The way that I have found clarity in the confusion is to be alert to financial, ideological, and political incentives when analyzing information and research. It took me about 4 months to complete this in late 2023 and I created 2 simple FREE resources for you…

The first FREE resource for you is The Basics of Being Healthy which is a 2-page guide to simple and basic strategies to follow for healthy eating, healthy movement, and healthy thoughts, emotions, and relationships. Think of it as the 20% of healthy lifestyle change that will get 80% of the job done.

According to the scientific literature, these basic healthy lifestyle changes can help you completely prevent:

100% of obesity, 90% of type 2 diabetes, 82% of heart disease, 70% of cancer, 70% of strokes, 90% of stress, anxiety and depression

For those whose desire or current health challenges require greater lifestyle change, we have developed From Being Healthy to Being Very Healthy guideThis is a one-page guide to lifestyle changes that often require some additional effort, organization, or expense to get your body, mind, and soul working at their optimum so you can maximize your health, happiness, and quality of life.

How Can I Get Hold Of These Free Resources?

Just come in to Be Healthy Chiropractic Wellness Centre during our opening hours and we’ll give you a copy.  Dr Lanthois will even help explain it to you. That way if you want to share this information with your friends and family (and we encourage you to do so) you will then be able to explain it properly to them.
